Muscle Building Products
There are many great muscle building products
on the market today. The problem is which to choose.
Should you supplement the things that you are
already getting in your muscle building diet?
Is it a good idea to mess with your hormone levels?
How about steroid products, are they legal and
safe? These questions about muscle building products
are all valid concerns and will be addressed here
to some extent. It is always a good idea to check
with your physician, however, before starting
any muscle building products because even some
natural ingredients can be harmful when taken
with other herbal supplements or medications.
Probably the most popular of all muscle building
products are protein supplements. Protein supplements
can be found in the form of snack bars, powders,
and pre-made protein shakes. It is common knowledge
in body building circles that protein is the most
essential ingredient to any muscle building diet.
Most protein supplements also contain other muscle
building products like carbohydrates and amino
acids.
Creatine is another of the more popular muscle
building products because it is a natural supplement
that builds muscle mass and increases energy.
Creatine can be found in pill form, powders and
liquids. Our bodies naturally produce creatine
and send it to the muscles through the blood.
95% of the creatine we produce is stored in the
tissues of our muscles. Creatine muscle building
products work in much the same way, except that
it gives you extra creatine for your muscles to
store, thus making them bigger.
Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a hormone produced
by our bodies that determines our height and the
size of our bones during puberty. As we grow older
HGH regulates the way we create and use energy
- our metabolism. HGH is a controversial muscle
building product but is widely used with good
results. Human growth hormone muscle building
products can be found in pill and powder form,
as well as liquid form in some cases.
Other hormone enhancing muscle building products
(prohormones) are marketed as a legal alternative
to steroids. Most prohormone muscle building products
are found in pill form and they increase the testosterone
levels. Testosterone is found in both males and
females but is the hormone that gives us our 'manly'
side. Gaining in popularity, prohormones not only
increase the ability to gain muscle mass, but
also have positive effects such as mood enhancement
and increased libido.
The other important hormone is estrogen. Estrogen
is the 'girly' hormone that you don't really want
so much of if you are bodybuilding. In all people,
men included, estrogen will take over and not
allow the body to produce as much testosterone.
For this reason, many people taking hormone enhancing
muscle building products also use anti-estrogen
supplements.
As with any medication or herbal supplement,
it is always a good idea to check with your physician
before beginning any muscle building products
just to make sure that it will not interact badly
with anything else you might be taking.
